ReceiptSplit ("we", "our", or "the app") is a receipt scanning and expense splitting application developed by Adam Drojewski "DEVCOD" based in Poland. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

By using ReceiptSplit, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Data We Collect

ReceiptSplit collects and processes the following types of data:

2.1 Receipt Data

Receipt images - Photos you take or import of receipts
Receipt text - Text extracted from receipt images via OCR
Items and prices - Individual line items parsed from receipts
Receipt metadata - Date, merchant name, totals

2.2 Participant Information

Names - Names of people sharing expenses
Contact information - Email addresses and phone numbers (optional, user-entered)
Split assignments - Which items are assigned to which participants

2.3 Payment Information

Payment handles - Your Venmo, PayPal, or Cash App usernames (optional)
Payment records - Records of payments made between participants

2.4 Device Information

Device name - Used to create default participant name
Locale settings - Used for currency and language defaults

4. Third-Party Services

ReceiptSplit uses the following third-party services:

4.1 AI Processing

What: When you use AI scanning (optional, requires internet), the receipt image is sent to a secure server for AI parsing.

Data sent: Receipt content necessary for parsing. No personal information is sent.

Retention: The image is processed and the structured result returned to your device. No receipt data is stored on our servers after processing.

4.2 Infrastructure

We use industry-standard infrastructure providers for security and performance. They may process request metadata according to their respective privacy policies.

4.3 Apple

App Store services and crash reporting are provided by Apple.

4.4 Payment Apps

ReceiptSplit can generate deep links to payment apps (Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, Revolut) for convenience. We do not process any payments — you are redirected to those apps.

5. Data Storage & Security

5.1 Local Storage

All your data is stored securely on your device using iOS standard methods.

5.2 Security Measures

All network traffic is encrypted. Data is stored securely using iOS standard security features.

6. Analytics & Crash Reporting

We do not use any third-party analytics services.

Crash reports are handled exclusively through Apple's App Store Connect, which you can opt out of in your iOS Settings.

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Union, you have the following rights:

Access - Request a copy of your data
Rectification - Correct inaccurate data
Erasure - Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
Portability - Export your data in a portable format
Objection - Object to certain processing

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control. You can view, edit, and delete all data directly within the app. To completely remove all data, simply delete the app from your device.

8. Data Retention

Your data is retained until you delete it. ReceiptSplit does not automatically delete any of your data. When you delete a receipt or participant in the app, it is permanently removed from local storage.

If you uninstall the app, all locally stored data is deleted.

9. Children's Privacy

ReceiptSplit is not intended for use by children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

10. International Data Transfers

When receipt data is processed for AI scanning, data may be transferred to servers located outside the European Economic Area. These transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards including standard contractual clauses.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:
